Wade Steven McPherson passed away peacefully to be with Jesus at Moses Cone Hospital on Sunday, November 20, 2022 in his hometown of Greensboro, North Carolina.
He was born on August 16, 1951 in Greensboro, North Carolina to Wade and Billie (Fields) McPherson. Steve was a 40-year printing technician and also volunteered as an EMT technician in early adulthood. He had a passion for family, cars, history, dogs, and quality time. His love of history led to his involvement in Revolutionary War reenactments with the 2nd North Carolina Regiment afoot. A man of faith, he served as an usher for Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church in Greensboro. He loved watching NASCAR, hockey, Greensboro and its wonderful restaurants, and spending time with his family. Countless people benefited from his generosity. When he saw a need, his servant’s heart moved to fill it. For Steve, the words in red were meant to serve as a guide for life, not just something to hear once a week. He was a man that was committed to his family.
Steve was preceded in death by his parents, Wade and Billie McPherson, and his grandparents, Effie and Elzie McPherson, and Ether and Bill Fields. He is survived by his son Stephen (Jennifer) McPherson, sisters Tina McPherson and Cyndi (Jimmy) Staley, granddaughter Madison McPherson, cousins Barbara Shropshire, Sandi (Jerry) Thornton, Teri Parks, and Max Fields, as well as many other loving family members.
