Thomas Charles Drenan, Jr.

Thomas Charles Drenan Jr, 70, of Pleasant Garden, NC died December 1, 2020, at the Hospice Home at High Point after a sudden illness with his family by his side.  Tom was born in Portsmouth, NH, the son of the late Norma and Tom Drenan.  He was the oldest of 3 siblings.  Starting in his childhood years, Tom was a world traveler who went to many notable places such as Pike’s Peak to Mount Blanc and down to the Caribbean Islands.

Tom obtained a Psychology degree from the University of Iowa and a Computer Science degree from North Carolina State University.  His career as a systems analyst at Lorillard spanned over 23 years.  After retirement in 2013 he earned a Horticulture-Greenhouse Operations degree from Forsyth Technical College and pursued his love of plants and gardening to the end of his life.  Tom enjoyed motorcycling, fishing, playing cut-throat card games, camping and traveling with his favorite travel buddy, his wife.  He had found a church home that soothed his soul at Deep River Friends.

Tom is missed everyday by his wife, Cindy Lukas Drenan.  They married in April 2003 after a whirlwind romance.  He is survived by stepson Bryon Lukas his wife Elaine and children Layla and Will and by stepdaughter Ashley Shepherd and her daughter Abigail.  Tom happily took on the grandfather role, spending time with each of them watching them grow.  He was very proud of their accomplishments.  He is also survived by his sister Claudia Drenan of Raleigh, NC and his brother Peter Drenan and his children Joshua Drenan and Julia Fazio and husband Michael and son Finn.  Tom was a lover of animals and left behind Pepper and Spooky as well.

There will be a celebration of Tom’s life, April 10, 2021 at 11:00 AM at the home.
