Staff Sergeant Robert Fredrick Williams, US Army Retired, 87, of High Point, passed away Tuesday, October 6, 2020, at Select Specially Hospital.
Born August 1, 1933, in Mattoon, Illinois, he was the son of the late Roy Clark Williams and the late Mae Gillespie Williams. Rob retired from the US Army with twenty-two years of service having fought in Korea and Vietnam. Following his military service he was the owner and operator of Rob’s Appliance and Repair for forty-four years. He was a great man who loved his county, God and his family. Rob was a member of Shady Grove Baptist Church.
He is survived by his soul mate and love of his life of fifty-six years, Bonnie Haire Williams of the home; son, Robbie Williams of Eden; daughters, Angie Hutchens and husband Erik of Kernersville, and Brandi Weaver and husband Darren of Georgia; sisters, Marjorie Checkly of Illinois, and Judy Beachey and husband Junior of Illinois; grandchildren, Brittany, Kimberly, Lyndsai, Nicholas, Madison, Liam, Eric, Riley, and Samantha; and six great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Steve Aaron Williams.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 AM Friday, October 9, 2020, in the chapel of Wright Funerals-Cremations with Rev. Bobby Blackburn officiating. Burial will follow in Guilford Memorial Park with full military honors.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM until 7:30 PM Thursday at the funeral home, and others time at the family home.
