Ronald Edward Yates

Ronald Edward Yates, 91, of Jamestown, passed away Thursday, April 4, 2024, at Hospice Home at High Point.

Born December 14, 1932, in Haysi, Virginia, he was a son of the late Herbert Yates and the late Clara H. Yates.  Ronald was a retired electrical engineer from AT&T, a veteran of the United States Air Force, and attended Gate City Baptist Church.  He was a gentle man with a positive attitude, a passion for golf, an avid runner, and also enjoyed drawing, especially cartoons.

He is survived by his wife, Dorothy Ritter Yates of the home; daughters, Ronna Y. Hertel (Ken) of Kingsport, TN and Karen Lynn Yates Lewellyn (Earl) of Hillsborough, NC; sons, Scott Brown (Tina) of High Point and Brad Brown (Janelle) of Charlotte;  brother, Steve Yates (Charlene) of Kingsport, TN; sister, Kay Y. Dale of Kingsport, TN; six granddaughters; three grandsons; three great granddaughters; two great grandsons; and brother-in-law, Bruce Robinette of Bristol, VA.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Theda May Yates; brother, Thomas Yates and sister Patsy Y. Robinette.

Memorial services will be conducted at 2:00 PM Saturday, April 20, 2024, at Gate City Baptist Church in Jamestown, NC with Pastor Michael Owens officiating.

The family will visit with friends following the service.
