Robert Glen Ward, Sr., 88, of High Point, passed away Sunday, May 26, 2019, at Hospice Home at High Point.

Born January 1, 1931, in Guilford County, he was a son of the late Hallie Ward and the late Beulah Johnson Ward. Mr. Ward was an avid golfer holding three-course records and eight holes-in-one. He was a retired golf superintendent at various course over fifty years, ending with Brierwood Golf Club in Shallotte, NC. He was a member of the National Golf Course Superintendents Association, and the Turf Grass Association.

Mr. Ward is survived by his son, Robert Glen Ward, Jr., of High Point; brothers, Paul Ward of Reidsville, Ralph Ward and wife Linda of Summerfield, and Thomas Ward and wife Helen of Pleasant Garden; and sister, Grace Styles of Archdale.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Dorothy Craven Ward in 1986; sisters, Margaret Holt and Marie Rich.

Memorial services will be conducted at 2:00 PM Friday, May 31, 2019, at Glenwood Friends Meeting, 2400 Old Chapman Rd., Greensboro with Rev. Scott Newton officiating.

The family will receive friends from 1:00 PM until 1:45 PM prior to the service.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of the Piedmont, 1801 Westchester Dr., High Point, NC 27262.
