Pearl Beck Brinkley

Pearl Beck Brinkley age 100 of Thomasville was taken home to be with her Lord and Savior, on October 1, 2020, after a long active life, filled with many blessings. Although it was a sad day for those she leaves behind, it was a joyous day when she passed through Heaven’s gate to those anticipating her arrival.

Born October 26, 1919, in Thomasville, she was the daughter of the late William Ambrose Beck and Bessie Myers Beck.  Her husband Raeford Brinkley died on April 9, 2010, after 70 years of marriage.  Sadly, she was predeceased by a loving daughter Dianne Brinkley Catlett, April 12, 2019, brothers, Roy, Howard, Fred, Olin, and Gilbert Beck and sisters Mattie, Loma, Ruby, Dovie, Eula, Hida Rae and Lucille.

She leaves behind a sister, Evelyn Beck Marion of Charlotte; daughters, Linda Myers and husband Bradford, Nancy Jones and husband Rick, and Kathy Woods;  son-in-law Roy Catlett; grandsons, Eric Myers and wife Pam of Thomasville, Ryan and wife Crystal of Wilmington; granddaughters, Dena Brown and husband Ken of Raleigh, Elizabeth Griffin and husband Phillip of Marion, Virginia, Amanda Cassetta and husband Brad of Thomasville, Amber Tuggle and husband Jason of Thomasville; great-granddaughters, Kristen, Erin, Selah, Sadie, EmmyLou, Maggie Mae, and Meadow; great grandsons, Michael, Thomas, Zane, Gregory, Wil (Maggie) and Beau;  one great-great granddaughter, Naomi; and an array of loving nieces and nephews.

A long and devoted member of Pine Woods UMC for over seventy-five years, she sang in the choir, was active in the UM Women, and was a Sunday school teacher.  She was a member of the Hasty Home Extension Club, and a licensed cosmetologist.  Best known for her famous “from scratch” food, she will be fondly remembered for her love of preparing delicious food dishes. She never wanted anyone leaving her table hungry.  She greatly loved Kure Beach and felt it was absolute tonic for the soul.  From her residence there during WW II to her time sharing a vacation home there with her husband, life didn’t get any better.

Funeral service will be held 2:00 PM Sunday, October 4, 2020 in the chapel of Wright Funeral-Cremations Chapel in High Point with Brad Cassetta officiating. Burial will be at 10:00 AM Monday. October 5, 2020, at Holly Hill Memorial Park with Jason Tuttle officiating.

The family will receive friends from 1:00 PM until 1:45 PM prior to the service at the funeral home.  Out of respect of the family, they request that facial coverings be worn.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Pine Woods United Methodist Church, 199 Pine Woods Rd., Thomasville, NC or Hospice and Palliative Care of High Point.
