Oliver “O.T.” Taft Pope, 78, of High Point, answered the call of his Lord and Savior to come home at 11:10 PM Tuesday, July 14, 2020.
Born September 30, 1941, in Guilford County, he was a son of the late Everett Reid Pope and the late Freida Dennis Pope.
He is survived by his wife of fifty-five years, Frances Moore Pope of the home; daughters, Kimberly Spillman (Rob Morris), and Brenda Marinelli; grandchildren, Brittany Marinelli (Jens Roessler), Arthur “A.J. Spillman, and Michael “Mikey” Spillman; sister, Faye Bowers (Pete); sister-in-love, Nancy Johnson (Don Griffin); faithful canine companion, Katie; and many nieces, nephews, and friends.
O.T. was a US Army veteran and was an active member of Northside Church of Christ as long as his health permitted. He was a tax preparer and notary for many years and enjoyed playing golf at Blair Park Golf Course. O.T. was always the life of the party with his “Erkel” impressions and dancing in different costumes for friends’ birthdays.
Memorial services will be conducted at 2:00 PM Saturday, July 25, 2020, at Northside Church of Christ with Rev. Larry Taylor officiating.
The family will receive following the service.
