Michael Ray Smith

Michael Ray Smith went to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on July 25, 2021. He was born February 19, 1958 in Kinston.

Michael married his high school sweetheart Stephanie Parker on August 30, 1980 and is the father of two sons, Adam Michael and Mark Nicholas “Nick”. Michael adored his wife and was an active father to his sons, teaching them to follow the Lord. He was a faithful member of Green Street Baptist Church of High Point and served as facilities manager for 15 years. He was skilled with his hands and also applied his intuition and talents to start and maintain a number of small businesses to provide for his family. Michael is known to many for his kind smile, humility, hard work and entrepreneurial spirit, but those closest to him know him best for his love, trustworthiness, and faithful service. 

Michael is preceded in death by his mother Evelyn Smith and brother Kent. He is survived by his wife Stephanie of 40 years, sons Adam (Kimi) of Raleigh and Nick (Brittany) of Garner, sister Cathy Bogan (Bob) of Reidsville, brothers William “Bill” (Phyllis) of Greensboro and Jeffrey (Kim) of Midland, grandchildren Silas Naoto, Keilah Emiko, and Miriam Ayumi of Raleigh and Amelia Caroline, Josiah Paul, and Solomon Michael of Garner, parents by marriage Frank and Aline Parker of Thomasville, sister-in-law Sonya Parker Sauls of Edgewater, MD, as well as many other beloved family and friends.

A memorial service will be held at Green Street Baptist Church on Saturday, August 7 at 11:00am. The family will receive friends following the service.

Memorial contributions may be made to Green Street Baptist Church, Alzheimer’s Association, or AuthoraCare Hospice of Greensboro. We would like to thank Richland Place, AuthoraCare Hospice, and other caregivers for their dedication to Michael’s care.
