Marilyn Deering Obituary

Marilyn Kay Deering (Melchisedek-Mell), 76, of High Point passed away Tuesday, October 13, 2020, at Pennybyrn following a long illness.

Born January 2, 1944, in Minneapolis, Minnesota, she was a daughter of the late Kenneth John Mell and the late Marjorie Leighton Mell. Marilyn attended Edison High School in North East Minnesota and graduated in 1961. She started her career in banking in 1962 in Minneapolis and retired in High Point with Bank of America in 2007. Marilyn was Past President of the Catholic Council of Women of Minnesota. She was an avid reader, loved to play cards, and was a huge Duke Blue Devils basketball fan.

On April 20, 1969, she married Joseph M. Deering of the home; sons, Anthony Deering (Wendy) of Appleton, Wisconsin, and Nicholas Deering and friend Ellen Milkie and her daughter, Roslyn of Brooklyn Park, Minnesota; sister, Bonnie Jean Brazil and her friend Jerry of Minneapolis; grandchildren, Britney Hammond of Appleton, Wisconsin, and Matt Stone of Forest Lake, Minnesota; great-grandchildren, Jabari and Amari Hammond; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Kenneth Mell; and stepmother Lorraine Mell.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:30 AM Saturday, October 17, 2020, at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church. Inurnment will follow in the church columbarium.

The family will receive friends beginning at 11:00 AM.
