Leon Roy McKusick passed away on November 18, 2021. Lee, the youngest child of Marjorie & Leon R. McKusick was born on October 18, 1929. He graduated from the Gilbert School and the College of Emporia (KS) majoring in Music. He briefly studied theology at the University Chicago. Lee was employed in sales in the airline industry, GE Lamp Division, and Construction Plastics. He retired after 18 years from Lowes Foods Deli Dept.
Lee had a life-long love of music including choir directing and Barbershop singing and directing. His roles in theater included Tevye in “Fiddler on the Roof”, The Judge in “To Kill a Mockingbird”, and Candy in “Of Mice and Men”.
After moving to Pennybyrn Retirement Community in High Point NC Lee rediscovered bridge and pinochle. His attendance at Sheperd’s Center in Greensboro, NC awakened a deep interest in poetry. Lee and his support group were honored to be published.
Lee is survived by his loving wife of 41 years, Barbara, and his sister, Mary Lou Clark. His children include Robyn, Andrew, Douglas, Elizabeth, and Michele and their extended families.
