Kurt Clarrington Valade

Kurt Clarrington Valade, 80, of Colfax, passed away Wednesday, May 5, 2021, at his home.

Born September 15, 1940, in Detroit, Michigan, he was a son of the late Ernest Valade and the late Dorothy Valade. Kurt was a graduate of Redford High School and earned a Bachelor of Arts from Asbury University, and a Master’s degree from Wayne State University.

He is survived by his wife of sixty years, Joy Turner Valade of the home; children, Jana Valade Barrett and husband Chris, Julia Valade Record and husband Glenn, Karen Valade Kemp and husband Steve, and Jayson Valade and wife Krista Coates Valade; grandchildren, Palmer Record and wife Katherine Reavis Record, Colin Barrett, Alyson Record, Megan Barrett Boyce and husband Brooks Boyce, Tanner Record and wife Kendall McCorkle Record, Lauren Barrett, William Valade, Jacob “Jake” Valade, Braeden Barrett, and Adam Joseph “AJ” Valade, great-grandsons, Caleb Allen Record, and Andrew Grant Record.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Keith Valade.

Memorial services will be conducted at 3:00 PM Saturday, May 8, 2021, at Green Street Baptist Church with Rev. Brandon Ware officiating.
