Keith Eichhorn, 86, passed away peacefully on Easter Sunday, March 31, 2024, at Pennybyrn Skilled Nursing Home.
Born on August 27, 1937, in Lancaster, Ohio, Keith was a son of Virginia and John Eichhorn. After graduating high school, he moved to Martinsville, Virginia, where he began his career in glass. Years later, he and his wife, Ann, moved to High Point, where he eventually started his own decorative glass manufacturing company. Glass Unlimited, Inc. provided a perfect venue for Keith’s artistic talent and for building a loyal family of coworkers. He was always kind, creative, driven, successful and well-respected. But equally important, he was encouraging to all people and challenged them to do their best in life. Keith was internationally respected in the decorative glass business.
A visionary and a great thinker, he did not care to be in the spotlight; instead, accomplishing many of his goals in his quiet fashion.
Keith championed the rights and abilities of all people, reflected in his roles at GUI and in the support he gave whenever and wherever he was asked. His love for glass design was exceeded only by his love for family. Pops’ grandchildren were his truest passion, although golf ranked a close behind.
He was happy to volunteer and to serve on many boards and committees in High Point, some of which were: High Point Hospital, Open Door Shelter, DSS, church-related positions and the High Point Country Club. He loved being a part of the Fish Unity Group at Wesley Memorial in the past. In addition, he was a supporter of the Michael J. Fox Parkinson Foundation.
Keith valiantly faced the challenges of living with Parkinson's Disease for more than eighteen years, and never complained. He fought hard to stay healthy and strong, and his family and many friends partnered in his quest, never giving up on him. His strong faith in God provided the peace and strength that powered him through life, to the very end.
Surviving is his devoted and loving wife, Dorsay Eichhorn; his children, Ginger Kinman (Quinton), Keith “Pepper” Finley (Robin), Maggie Barry (Richard), Dillard Spring (Drew), Clint Field (Kathryn), Jady Howard (Kelly), Brendle Rink (Matt); his grandchildren, Mary Kathryn Field, Meredith Field, Berton Spring, John Spring, Georgia McCullough, Lauren McCullough, Adley Rink, Jones Rink and Mary Wyndham Rink; his brother, Dave Eichhorn and his family.
A service to celebrate Keith’s life will be 2:00 PM Sunday, April 7, 2024, at First United Methodist Church; 512 N. Main Street, High Point with Pastor Willis Greens officiating.
A visitation will follow in the Epworth Room.
