Helen Joy Marshall Hill, 90, of Denton, passed away Saturday, March 16, 2024, at the Hospice Home of Randolph County.
She was born June 23, 1933, in High Point, to Walter Galveston Marshall and Helen Whidden Marshall. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Christine Hill; brothers, Eddie Marshall, Walt Marshall, and Cowboy Marshall; and her husband, Ken Kanareck.
Joy is survived by her sons, Wayne Hill and Mickey Hill; grandchildren, Jeff “Tadpole” Hill and wife Brittany, Christy Brandy’s and husband Andrew, Chantilly Hill, Samuel Hill and Brandi Caulder and husband Joey; 20 great grandchildren and 5 great-great grandchildren.
She was a loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and great-great grandmother; strict when she needed to be but always caring. Joy enjoyed going to church gatherings and singings; riding trains and trips with friends; traveling as she was able. In her early years, she was in the Mills Home orphanage for 4 years. She was a proud breast cancer survivor as well.
Memorial Service will be 2:00 PM Friday, March 22, 2024, in the sanctuary of Gospel Light Freewill Baptist Church; 4014 Ball Park Rd., Thomasville; with Pastor James Shetley officiating.
The family will receive friends following the service.
