John Wayne Eastlack

Dr. Wayne Eastlack was born on December 28, 1944, in Gloucester County, New Jersey, in the city of Woodbury.

Doc is survived by his wife, Lora, of 49 years, and two grown children, Chad and Allison. Chad and his family live here in the Triad area. Allison and her husband reside in San Diego, California.

Wayne was born and raised in Southern New Jersey and is the second son of six siblings. His father was an instrument design engineer for DuPont Corporation, and in his retirement years was a full-time Wesleyan pastor.  Wayne graduated from Paulsboro High School in 1963.  He then went on to Houghton College, in New York, and Eastern Pilgrim College, in Pennsylvania, as a Bible and Christian education major.

Wayne’s education was briefly interrupted by the Vietnam War.  He served, with distinction, in the United States Marine Corps.  Wayne received two separate Outstanding Service Recommendations and, with them, two Meritorious Rank Promotions. He was also a part of the President’s Honor Guard at the Western White House.  While in the Service, he received a certificate of completion in Criminology at San Diego State.

Post Service, he went back to college and received two degrees, from what is now known as Rowan University.  He earned his PH.D in Behavioral Science at The Walden Institute for Advanced Studies in Minnesota.  Wayne was Licensed and Board Certified in two states.  He had been a Counseling Psychotherapist for nearly forty years, also an Adjunct Professor, for two Christian universities.  He has traveled nearly fourteen years as a lecturing specialist in the field of “The Neurology of Anxiety, Depression and Autism”.

Wayne has been a Licensed Ordained Minister for nearly twenty years.  His hobbies were concert presentations, playing guitar, recording CD’s, flying as a younger man, oil painting, woodworking, building projects, and preaching and teaching in church care groups and Sunday School.

Celebration of Life Service will be conducted at 2:00 PM Sunday, January 29, 2023, at Wesleyan Christian Academy Auditorium, 1917 N. Centennial Ave, High Point, NC  27262.

The family will visit with friends following the service.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be directed to: Wesleyan Christian Academy in Dr. Eastlack’s name.
