James Gay Obituary

James Dwight Gay

Thomasville

Mr. James Dwight Gay, of Thomasville, NC passed away on February 12, 2020 after an extended illness since 2006.  His loving wife was his caretaker and was at his side at the time of his passing.

On March 4, 1951, Jim was born in Johnston County NC.  His father, preceded him in death. His mother, Mrs. Gay, survives him and Daughter Natalia Gay.

Jim will be loved and missed by his beloved and devoted wife, Sheila Warner-Gay; daughter, Samantha “Sam” Gay and wonderful son in law, Jesse Terrell; His generous and loving Father and Mother In Law, Herb and Jean Warner; sister in law, Jean Ellen Warner, nephews, Jordan and John Groleau of Michigan; by his family he received by marriage, which was a gift of life, the extended Warner Family, aunts, uncles and cousins; His loving aunts, Elizabeth (Liz), Hazel, Naomi and Lyda; very special Uncle Bob; and many cousins.

In his professional life, Jim and Sheila retired from the insurance – reinsurance industry.  A great love between them, as they met and it was love at first sight, the luckiest day of each other’s life.  We loved, laughed and always stood by each other’s side.  The obstacles in their path were not obstacles they were the PATH.

The family would like to extend our heartfelt gratitude for the love and care that was given to Jim over the years to Dr. Warren Gallemore, Dr. Cory Sessoms, and Dr. David Ramsay, Greg Barton PA. Dr. David O’Toole, Dr. Alexandre Caillat, Digestive Health Specialties, Forsyth Hematology and Oncology, NHFMC-Outpatient Day Hospital; NHFMC-Ultrasound/Radiology Department; NHFMC-Hospitalist-to numerous to name, but you all know you were loved; NHFMC –ED; Novant Thomasville Medical Center; Duke Medical Hospital, Dr. Matthew Kappus, Dr. Burbridge; UNC Chapel Hill Medical Center; Advance Home Health Care; the blood banks, the American Red Cross, the many nurses, cna staff, food services, valet parking, volunteers and registration staff.  Without each and every one of you and the Grace of God, this long journey could not have been possible.

At Jim's request, no services will be held.  His family would like to request that if you are able to donate blood, plasma or platelets, please do so in James Dwight Gay’s memory.
