Ian Ray Sykes

Ian Ray Sykes, 26, of Reidsville, passed away Wednesday, June 30, 2021, at his home.

Born May 20, 1995, in Forsyth County, he was the son of Ken Sykes (Debbie Sykes) of Greensboro, and Lisa Earley Morton (Robert Morton) of Jacksonville, Florida. Ian was a 2013 graduate of Trinity High School and immediately joined the US Army, becoming the youngest paratrooper in his class. He was assigned to the 82nd Airborne Division in Fort Bragg, NC. Ian spent several years in Florida and enjoyed the sun and sand more than any other place. While he was in Florida, he earned his Life and Health Licenses. He loved fast cars, motorcycles, and ATVs. Ian worked for Reidsville Nissan and was a beloved co-worker. He was a loyal friend and was known for his larger-than-life sense of humor. Everyone loved Ian, he will be missed beyond measure, and he left us way too soon.

In addition to his parents, he is survived by his sister, Kennedy Wilson (Sgt Seth Wilson) of Columbia, SC; niece, Payton Wilson of Columbia, SC; stepbrother, Gavin Baranauskas of Greensboro; grandmother, Linda Robertson (Mike Robertson) of Reidsville; grandfather, Steven Sykes (Mei Sykes) of Archdale; and great-grandmother, Betty Sykes of Trinity.

He was preceded in death by his grandmother, Marilynn Earley, and grandfather, Wilbur Sykes.
