Gerald Byrd

Kenneth Gerald Byrd, 87, of Thomasville, passed away Sunday, March 5, 2023, at Thomasville Medical Center.

Born April 23, 1935, in High Point, he was a son of the late Mayo Byrd and the late Willie Fincannon Byrd. Gerald was a US Army veteran serving as a paratrooper in the 82nd Airborne. He was a lifetime member of Hilliard Memorial Baptist Church where he served as a Deacon and retired from Winn Dixie with thirty-two years of service.

Gerald loved being a father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and is survived by his son, Kenneth Byrd of Trinty, and Douglas Byrd and wife Myra of Thomasville; daughter, Karen Crisp and husband Jason of Lexington; brother, Elliot Byrd of Florida; grandchildren, Paige Boles, Christy Byrd, Casey Crisp, and Kelly Crisp; great-grandchildren, River Boles and Henry Sneed.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Rose Byrd.

Graveside services will be conducted at 2:00 PM Friday, March 10, 2023, at Floral Garden Park with Rev. Jack Rose officiating.

The family will receive friends from 1:00 PM until 1:45 PM prior to the service at Wright Funerals-Cremations, High Point.
