Georgia Louise (Snow) Voncannon

Georgia Louise Snow VonCannon, age 91, went to be with our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on January 25, 2024.  Georgia was born on August 19, 1932, to Carlie Washington Snow and Virginia Ball Snow.  She grew up in Surry County, NC, attended High Point High School and had a lifelong career in Retail Sales, later retiring from Belk, Inc.  In 1947 she married Thomas (Tommy) David VonCannon and went on to have three children, David VonCannon (Janey) of Charlotte, Joy Brisson (Ron) of Rolesville, and Barry VonCannon (Diane) of Thomasville.

Georgia lived a full life serving her Lord. She was preceded in death by her husband of 75 years, Thomas (Tommy) David VonCannon. She was a long time member of Woodlawn Baptist Church, where she taught the Women’s Bible Class for some 50 plus years and sang in the choir. For many years she traveled the area sharing the Gospel through song at churches, revivals, camp meetings and on WTNC radio with her longtime friend Audrey.

Later in life, becoming a member of Springfield Baptist Church, where she sang in the choir, assisted in teaching Sunday School in the Golden Age Class and participated in the “Young at Heart” senior’s group. Georgia (and Tommy) enjoyed traveling to see family and enjoyed many trips with the “Young at Heart” senior’s group. Even during these last years of her life at Mallard Ridge Assisted Living, she touched many lives by praying and caring for others. Georgia loved spending time with her family, her grandchildren and great grandchildren. They were the sunshine of her life.

She is survived by three children, five grandchildren – Chris VonCannon (Mary), Beth Brisson, Nate Brisson (Ashley), Angela Simmons (Chris), Carol Ann VonCannon and four great grandchildren – Abbi VonCannon, Cole VonCannon, Micah VonCannon, and Lucie Brisson.  Georgia is survived also by her brother, Donald Snow (Brenda) and sister Shelby Morris, nieces Kim Saunders Smith, Melissa Hatfield (Donnie), Lisa Brooks (Chip) and nephews, Donnie Snow (Bobbie) and Brady Snow.

Georgia was a kind, giving and loving wife, mother, sister, grandmother, great-grandmother, and aunt to her family.  She enjoyed visiting and fellowshipping with her family and friends and was a proud and patriotic American.
