George LaFaro Obituary

George Vincent LaFaro, 77, of High Point, passed away in the early morning hours of Tuesday, November 9, 2021, at Shannon Gray Nursing and Rehab. He had been transferred there only three days prior, after a short stay in the hospital recovering from a fall in his home.

Born June 2, 1944, in Hornell, New York, he was the son of the late Dominic LaFaro and the late Jennie Spadaro LaFaro.

George was raised in Los Angeles from the age of 3. In 1961 he graduated from Junipero Serra Boys Catholic High School in Gardena, California, and attended community college.

George spent part of his adult life living and working in the furniture industry in San Francisco, California. He moved to High Point in 1996 to continue his career in furniture procurement and sales.

Among his family and friends, George was known to be creative and thoughtful, often creating personalized cards and gifts with his talents in graphic design. He loved hot air balloons and carousel horses and amassed a fine collection of both. Extremely proud to be of Sicilian descent, George loved all-things-Italian, and especially loved recreating the delicious dishes he grew up with from the kitchen of his parents who were both excellent and memorable cooks.

He is survived by a sister, Donna J. Cole and brother-n-law John of Gardnerville, Nevada; niece, Jennifer A. Cole of Alexandria, Virginia; nephew, John C. Cole of Gardnerville, Nevada; nephew Jeffrey M. Cole, and great nephew, Jacob F. Cole of Westlake Village, California; and many cousins in New York and California.

A Catholic Mass and burial will be held in Southern California, as soon as arrangements can be made.

George's family thanks the good people of High Point, and especially his friends and neighbors who helped when needed and brightened his life.

Wright Funerals-Cremations is in charge of arrangements.
