Gary Wayne Franklin

Gary Wayne Franklin,67, of Thomasville, passed away Thursday, August 31,2023 at Forsyth Medical Center.

Born December 10, 1955, in Brownsville TN, he was the son of the late Armel Franklin and Alberta Owens Franklin. Gary proudly served in the United States Army before entering in to manufacturing. After retiring, he spent the last several years working as a Security Guard for Allied Universal, a job that he absolutely loved. Gary loved to be around his coworkers and friends, that he made and kept everywhere he went. He was someone who loved to joke around and have fun with, especially when it came to his love of sports. He was an all Detroit superfan, he had the ballcaps to each team and treasured them as prized possessions; Gary also loved to work in his yard, making it the best in the neighborhood.

Gary is survived by his wife of 28 years, Earnestine Franklin; sons, Travis Jones (Monica), Corey Moore, stepson Robert Wright Jr. (Audrey); daughters, Ashley Franklin, Jenaya Butler, Jalyman Butler, stepdaughter Latasha Wright; brothers, Charles Franklin, David Franklin (Deborah), Keith Franklin (Yvette); sisters, Pamela Franklin, Deborah Jarrett (Willie), Denise Taylor (Howard); grandson, AJ Rivers; cousins, Jamal Rasheed and Rev. James Brown.

In addition to his parents, Gary was preceded in death by his brother, Claudis Franklin and sister, Martha Sims.
