Dr. Edwin Lewis Auman

Dr. Edwin Lewis Auman, 91, of High Point, passed away Wednesday, January 6, 2021, at Oak Forest Healthcare.

Born December 14, 1929, in Enfield, NC he was a son of the late Rev. John Clyde Auman and the late Sadie Parrish Auman. Dr. Auman graduated from Walkertown High School in 1947, High Point University in 1951, and from Bowman Gray School of Medicine at Wake forest University in 1955. He interned at the Bryn Mawr Hospital in Pennsylvania and served his residency at Wake Forest Baptist Hospital. Dr Auman was a diplomate of the American Board of Medicine and a Fellow of the American College of Physicians. Dr. Auman was a member of the AMA, NC Medical Society, Guilford County Medical Society, the American and NC Society of Internal Medicine. He served as the Chief of Staff at High Point Regional Hospital and served on the Board of Trustees. He was the former Medical Director and served on the Board of Trustees at Pennybyrn at Maryfield. Dr. Auman was a longtime and faithful member of Wesley Memorial United Methodist Church, a member of the High Point Lions Club, and numerous other organizations. He practiced medicine in High Point for forty years at the High Point Medical Center.

He is survived by his wife Lois Erwin Auman of the home, sons, Tim Auman and wife Heidi Gessner of Durham, and Edwin Auman and wife Robin Etu of Ventura California; daughter, Patricia Auman Atkinson and husband Johnny of Marion, South Carolina; grandchildren, Parrish Atkinson, Jonathan Auman, Micah Auman, and Presley Auman.

Graveside services will be private at Floral Garden Park with Rev. Barry Osborne officiating. A memorial service will held at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Wesley Memorial United Methodist Church Youth Ministries, 1225 Chestnut Dr., High Point, NC 27262.
