Dorothy Thompson Obituary

On June 5, 2022, Dorothy “Dottie” Thompson went home to be with her Lord and Savior. 

Dottie was born January 31, 1934, and adopted shortly after. Dottie spent many years serving others in the kitchen of St. Joseph’s Hospital and Penobscot Valley Hospital. She spent many years running her antique/secondhand store, Lovetts Second Hand Shop, in Lincoln Center. Dottie loved yard sales, playing Skip-Bo, Phase 10, and Left Right Center with her family. Dottie was a beloved member of the Hanes Baptist Church in North Carolina. In 1991, after many years, with the help of her daughter, Dottie found her biological family, finding not only her biological mother Dorothy Wyman but also 7 brothers and sisters.

Dottie is predeceased by her husband, Fern Thompson; her adoptive parents, Josephine and Norman McPheters; her adoptive brother, Peter McPheters; biological mother, Dorothy Wyman, biological sisters Carolyn Sutton & Mary Fitzpatrick, biological brother Charlie Wyman, daughter Janet Tomilson, granddaughter, Stacy Tomilson; and grandson, Cory Nason.

Dottie is survived by her children, Jo-Ann Reynolds and her husband George of North Carolina, Glen Humphrey and Gary Humphrey, and son-in-law, Brian E. Tomilson all of Lincoln, Maine; sisters, Harriet Harmon and Linda Nadeau; brothers, Donnie Wyman and his wife Mary, John Wyman and his wife Claire all of southern Maine, and adopted daughter, Vicki Masters; grandchildren, Lindsay Casey and her husband Nathan of Bangor, Maine, Brian L. Tomilson of Zephyrhills, Florida, Shawn Nason of North Dakota, Rachel Lynn and her husband Josh, Randy Humphrey of Skowhwgan, Maine, and Robbie Humphrey of Burlington, Maine; great grandchildren, Dominic Smart and Alexandrea Casey of Bangor, Maine, Madison Nason, Alice and Sophie Lynn all of North Carolina, Macy Humphrey of Bangor, Maine and many nieces and nephews. 

Services will be held at Hanes Baptist Church in Winston Salem NC.  Saturday, July 2, 2022, at 1:00 pm. For those unable to attend the service will be live on Facebook.

Services in Maine will be announced at a later date. 

Wright Funerals-Cremations, Archdale is in charge of arrangements.
