Dorothy Sloop Morgan, 96, of High Point, passed away Thursday, September 16, 2021, at Hospice Home at High Point.
Born May 23, 1925, in High Point, she was a daughter of the late James Alvin Sloop and the late Loudema Daniel Sloop. Dorothy, known by her friends and family as Dolly, was a homemaker and a lifelong member of Emmanuel Lutheran Church. She loved music and sang in the choir, enjoyed playing bridge, and was an avid golfer and tennis player in her earlier years. Dolly volunteered with the Girl Scouts, the American Red Cross, and as a Gray Lady at High Point Hospital.
She is survived by her daughters, Dolly Joanna Morgan Millis of Mt. Pleasant, SC, and Marsha Morgan Mayer (Michael E. Kelly) of Greensboro; grandchildren, Henry Albion Millis, IV (Natasya Lynn Millis) and Morgan Mayer Wise (Zachary Lee Wise); and four great-grandchildren, Eli Morris Hayden, Noa Alexander Millis, Jasper Albion Millis, and Bodhi Lynden Millis.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Roger William Morgan to whom she was married for seventy-three years, their son, Roger William Morgan, Jr., and her seven older brothers and sisters.
Graveside services will be conducted at 2:00 PM Sunday, September 19, 2021, in Floral Garden Park with Rev. Ethan Overcash officiating.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to Emmanuel Lutheran Church, 1401 Heathcliff Road, High Point, 27262.
