Doris Jean Floyd Oxendine, 72, of Archdale, passed away Tuesday, March 19, 2024, at High Point Medical Center.
Born February 3, 1952, in Mullins, South Carolina, she was a daughter to the late Odell Floyd and the late Katie Elizabeth Harper Floyd. Doris worked as a cabinet builder and was a member of New Life Baptist Church; she thought the world of Pastor Michael Mabe. She loved the Lord and sharing Jesus with others. Doris loved to cook, one of her specialties was her chicken-‘n-dumplings and carrot cake. On Saturday, June 4, 1977, she married the love of her life, Billy Ray Oxendine. Her son Billy was her pride and joy, and his sons Nathan and Jase were her heart.
She is survived by her husband, Billy Ray Oxendine of the home; son, Billy M. Oxendine and wife Christy of Trinity; daughters, Beatrice Hale and husband Ronnie of Thomasville, Annette Oxendine of High Point and Vicky Oxendine of High Point; sisters, Joyce Rogers and husband Robert and Lois Rogers; grandchildren, Nathan, Jase, Neta, Ronnie, Delisha, Lakeisha, Chris, Casey, Joshua, and Lydia; and fifteen great grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Baby Girl Oxendine; brothers, Rufus Floyd and Marvin Floyd; sisters, Louise Byrd, Virginia Hucks, Ila Mae Cox, Marie Rogers, and Ruth Tyler; grandsons, Dewayne Faircloth and Jacob Faircloth; and brother-in-law Albert Rogers.
Doris’s favorite scriptures were Romans 8:28 “And we know all things work together for good to the, that love God, to them who are called according to His purpose” and Philippians 4:13 “I can do all things thru Christ which strengthens me”.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 PM Sunday, March 24, 2024, in the High Point Chapel of Wright Funerals-Cremations with Pastor Michael Mabe officiating. Burial will follow at Landmark Baptist Church Cemetery.
The family will visit with friends from 1:00 PM until 1:45 PM prior to the service.
