Doris Reece Newton, 105, of High Point, passed away Tuesday, April 23, 2024, at Summerstone Health and Rehab in Kernersville.
Born October 28, 1918, in Davidson County, she was a daughter of the late Jacob A. Reece and the late Cassie Wyre Reece. Doris was a retired bookkeeper.
She is survived by her son, Ernest “Ernie” Newton, Jr. and wife Penny of Winston-Salem; daughter, Kay Hunt and husband Rick of High Point; sister, Maybeth Thomas; grandchildren, Christy Palmer and husband Donald, Bradley Hunt and wife Carrie, Scott Newton and wife Dacia, and Marcy Newton; great-grandchildren, Logan Palmer, Madison Carroll and husband Nolan, Jackson Palmer, Grady Newton, Emery Newton, Lincoln Newton, Ezra Newton, Reece Hart, Cooper Hunt, and Sutton Hunt.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Ernest G. Newton, Sr.; brother, Jacob Reece, Jr.; sisters, Lois Peterson, Virgie Kennedy, Rachel Craven, and Dorothea Bodenheimer.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 PM Sunday, April 28, 2024, in the High Point Chapel of Wright Funerals-Cremations with Rev. Josh Sands officiating. Entombment will be private at Floral Garden Park.
The family will receive friends following the service.
