Dewey Milton Corn, 94, of High Point, passed away Sunday, July 8, 2018, at his home.

Born October 9, 1923, in Patrick County, Virginia, he was a son of the late Elijah Benton Corns and the late Josephine Martin Corns. Mr. Corn graduated from Sandy Ridge High School in 1940 and was a WWII US Navy veteran having fought in the battle of Okinawa in 1945. Following his military service, he enrolled at North Carolina State University and received his Bachelor of Science in agricultural education in 1949 and his Master of Science in 1952. In his early years, he taught high school and was an assistant professor at Pembroke State College. In 1957 he and his wife moved to High Point and he became an insurance agent with Mendenhall-Moore Insurance Agency, eventually buying the business in 1982. He continued his work until his retirement in 1990. Mr. Corn was a member of the High Point Civitan Club and a longtime member of Green Street Baptist Church. A diehard WolfPack fan and supporter, he attended 417 consecutive NC State football games, including, home, away, and bowl games.

He is survived by his daughters, Lynda B. Corn of High Point, and Miriam C. Barkley (Timothy) of Greensboro.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of seventy years, Christine Elizabeth Roberts Corn; brothers, Hubert Corns, James Corns, Thomas Corns, Winfred Corns, and Ray Corns.

Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 AM Thursday, July 12, 2018, at Green Street Baptist Church. Burial will follow in Floral Garden Park.

The family will receive friends from 10:00 AM until 10:45 AM prior to the service at the church.
