Danna Higgins Bouchey
Danna Higgins Bouchey, 75, passed away March 23, 2020, at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center in Winston-Salem.
Born January 15, 1945, in Cohoes, New York, Danna graduated from Keveny Academy in Cohoes and attended the State University of New York at Albany. After moving to North Carolina in 1975, she was instrumental in founding the Girls Athletic Association in High Point and, later, in organizing neighborhood food drives to support Clemmons Food Pantry. She was a founding member and secretary of Basset Rescue Crew of the Southeast and volunteered for many years for the Ronald McDonald House of Winston-Salem.
She is survived by her husband of 56 years, Daniel Bouchey, of the home; daughters Lisa Bouchey of Thomasville, North Carolina, and Kimberley Bouchey of Columbia, South Carolina; and “adopted” daughters Lisa Straughn of Thomasville and Dawn Bloodworth of Newnan, Georgia. Danna was preceded in death by her parents, Daniel R. Higgins and Lucille M. Higgins, and her beloved basset hound Boyd.
The family is especially grateful to the incredibly caring and capable medical teams at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center.
Danna will be inurned in the columbarium at Salisbury National Cemetery. Additional arrangements are not available at this time. The family suggests making memorial contributions to BARCSE.org, ClemmonsFoodPantry.org, RMHWS.org or the American Lung Association.
Wright Funerals-Cremations is in charge of arrangements.
