Cory Bentley Obituary

Cory Alexander Bentley left his earthly family to join his Heavenly one on March 9, 2023, after a brief illness. He was born in High Point, NC to Shannon Bentley Moser on February 2, 1987, and changed lives from the moment he was born. He grew up in the Archdale-Trinity community and as a child, his favorite times were spent with his Nana and Pop. Graduating from Trinity High School in 2005, he attended UNCG and graduated with a degree in biology, which became one of his passions. Intelligent with a commitment to lifelong learning, Cory loved to study the human body, cells, and genetics. This eventually led him to a career where he could share his passion for life science with others.

In 2012 he began his career as a middle school science teacher at Archdale-Trinity Middle School. But teaching was more than just a career for Cory, it was a passion. He enjoyed being part of the school community and worked hard to give students an excellent experience inside and outside of the classroom. Always holding high expectations for his students and those around him, he pushed others to be their best. He was deeply committed to producing the yearbook each year with a group of students in his yearbook class. Creative and organized with an eye for detail, he created award winning yearbooks each year. In 2021, Cory had the opportunity to be part of the inaugural year of Trinity Middle School and he was so proud to be a part of establishing this new school community. Loved by students and fellow teachers, his passion for education, technology, and community was obvious and infectious.

In 2013 Cory married Tabitha Thomas Bentley and they began to create a beautiful life together. They have two amazing children, Ellis, 7 and Allie-Cate, 4. Cory loved his family dearly and enjoyed family dinners, movie nights, and family cuddles.

Cory enjoyed singing and worshiping at several churches in the area including Fairview United Methodist and Archdale United Methodist. He loved to worship through song and was a talented worship leader. His love for His Savior was obvious when he sang. He sang with passion and love and joy radiated from his soul.

Cory was a light in a dark world. Witty, caring, dedicated, kind, passionate, hard-working and fun, he was always someone you wanted to be around. His calm presence encouraged others to be at their best. His presence will be missed by those who loved him. He was preceded in death by his three grandfathers: Ronnie “Pop” Gardiner, Rick Bentley, and Bud Moser. He is survived by his wife, Tabitha Bentley, two children Ellis and Allie-Cate, Mom and Dad, Shannon and Trey Moser, brother Cameron Moser, mother-in-law Vivian Thomas, brother-in-law and sister-in-law Jonathan and Jennifer Thomas, Grandmothers Cathie Gardner and Brenda Moser, Aunts and Uncles David and Misty Shafer, Bob and Cindy Schofield, and Todd and Donna Moser. He also left behind many cousins and extended family members who loved him dearly.

A Celebration of Life service will be held 2:00 PM Sunday, March 19, 2023, at Archdale United Methodist Church. The family will receive visitors after the service. Memorials may be given to the Cory Bentley Memorial Scholarship fund to be given to a Trinity High School Senior pursuing a degree in a science field. This fund can currently be found on GoFundMe.
