Carl Douglas Rakes, 82, of High Point, passed away Sunday, February 9, 2020, at North Carolina Veterans Home.

Born June 30, 1937, in Franklin County, Virginia, he was a son of the late Bill Rakes and the late Ethel Doss Rakes. Mr. Rakes was a US Army veteran and a retired maintenance supervisor for Guilford College.

He is survived by his wife Judy Stanley Rakes of the home; stepson, Jerry Scott Segers and wife Mitze of Lexington; stepdaughter, Wendy Steele and husband Brandon of High Point; sister, Carol Ballard of Martinsville, VA; four grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Services will be conducted at 11:00 AM Friday, February 14, 2020, at Hilliard Memorial Baptist Church with Rev. C.W. Moss officiating. Military honors will be rendered at the church. Burial will be in Salisbury National Cemetery.

The family will receive friends following the service.
