Billy Ray “Bill” Foster earned his final flight wings on a clear beautiful morning Friday, October 27, 2023 at Hospice Home in High Point, NC.
Bill was born March 30, 1934 in High Point to the late W.F. Foster & Bonnie Crumpler Foster. He is survived by his wife June Marie Royals Foster of their home in Trinity. They were married on December 26, 1953 and would have celebrated their 70th anniversary this year.
Bill graduated from High Point Central High School and attended Guilford College while working at Western Electric. He then joined the US Army & served as an MP at SHAPE Headquarters in France.
Bill was “Dad” to many young men when he served as “Demolay Dad” in the 60’s. Bill also was a dedicated Mason and was twice Master of the Bush Hill Lodge in Archdale. He enjoyed the fellowship & wonderful contributions his lodge made to the community.
He enjoyed reading, especially military & aviation history, eating anything sweet, RVing to Hilton Head Island & Baden Lake, hand tapping to the beat of music & loving on their dogs that provided many smiles over the years. He had his private pilots license and also his instrument rating. Speeding down a country road or open highway or even flying around the yard on his riding lawnmower was a thrill for him. What Bill cherished and enjoyed most was his family.
Holding his memory close in their hearts is his Son: Duane Foster & wife Sandy Parker(Trinity), Daughter: Susan Foster Linthicum & husband Keith(Fayetteville), Grandchildren that all called him “Poppy”: Brandon Willard(Asheville), Kent Willard(NYC), Elizabeth Foster & husband Arthur Gardiner(Greensboro), Great Granddaughter: Zalea Eacho (Asheville), Sister: Judy Foster Cox & husband Terry (High Point), Nephew: Jason Cox & wife Stephanie (High Point), Niece: Kristin Cox Rairden & Husband Matt (Greensboro) & Great Niece Olivia Rairden.
Bill also had “Bonus” Grandchildren: Laura Willard Tucker & husband Tom(Minneapolis,MN), Lt Colonel Daran Linthicum & wife Lisa (Yorktown, VA), Raeann Linthicum Cando & husband Patrick(London, England) and Bonus Great Granddaughters: Emilie & Ava Linthicum & Lydia Cando.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday, November 26, 2023, at 3pm in the Trinity Memorial United Methodist Church Fellowship Hall at 7140 NC Hwy 62 in Trinity.
