William “Bill” Rayvon Oakley, Jr., 83, of Trinity, passed away Wednesday, November 22, 2023, at his home.
Born March 27, 1940, in Guilford County, he was a son of the late William Rayvon Oakley, Sr. and the late Mary Doris Younts Oakley. Bill retired from the furniture industry, loved golf, and flying airplanes. Bill was the drummer in the band, The Furys and loved sitting on the porch talking with his neighbors. Bill and his wife are longtime members of Green Street Baptist Church.
He is survived by his wife, Lavonne Beshears Oakley of the home; sons, Jeffrey Oakley and wife Patti of Wilmington, and William “Dale” Oakley and wife Lynn of Badin Lake; sisters, Gwynn Lanier and husband Ron of Archdale, and Donna Jean Johnson and husband Chuck of Trinity; grandchildren, Shane Oakley, Darren Oakley, Holli Hodges, and Brandi Oakley; great-grandchildren, Dylan Hodges, Jacob Hodges, Jada Cole, Cai Oakley, Max Oakley, Heidi Oakley, Edan Oakley, and Piper Oakley.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his great-granddaughter, Alexis Loflin.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 PM Tuesday, November 28, 2023, in the High Point Chapel of Wright Funerals-Cremations with Dr. Robert Steele officiating. Burial will follow in Floral Garden Park.
The family will receive friends from 1:00 PM until 1:45 PM prior to the service.
Memorial contributions may be made to Amedisys Hospice of Burlington.
