Joseph “Wayne” Embry

High Point

Joseph "Wayne" Embry, 76, passed away Thursday, January 19, 2017, at Hospice Home at High Point after a trying battle with cancer.

Born November 13, 1940, in Thomasville, NC, he lived in High Point, NC.  Wayne was a graduate of Pilot High School in Thomasville, NC, and was a US Army veteran. He worked in the retail management, food catering and vending businesses for many years before retiring. He most enjoyed spending time with his family, fishing and golfing.

Survivors include children, Scott Embry (spouse Carol), Leslie Delgado (spouse Sean) and sister, Nancy Perdue (spouse Roy). Wayne also had four grandchildren, Tyler Delgado, Brennan Embry, Chaas Delgado and Nicole Embry. He was preceded in death by his parents, Elmer and Virgie, sisters Louise and Ruth.

Wayne was known to all as a loving father and an honest, compassionate, man.  His caring nature and giving spirit endeared him to his family and all others who knew him.  “Poppy Wayne” was very beloved and he will be sorely missed.

The family will be at Solid Rock Freewill Baptist Church in Thomasville at 3:00 PM Tuesday, January 24, for a memorial service followed by reception of guests.
