Wayne Brown, 78, of Madison, passed away Sunday, May 19, 2019, at Moses Cone Hospital.

He was born September 7, 1940, in Montgomery County. Wayne was a US Army veteran and was the retired owner/operator of Brown Hardware Store in Mt. Gilead, North Carolina.

He is survived by his daughters, April Brown of Pinehurst, Lisa Greene of Little River, South Carolina, and Debbie Paris and husband Berkey of Madison; son, Tommy Griffin and wife Sharon of Raleigh; brothers, Max Brown and Charlie Brown; sister, Madonna Brown; grandchildren, Meredith Paris, Emily Paris, and Megan Riley.

A gathering of family of friends will be held from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM Tuesday, May 21, 2019, at Good News Baptist Church, 1215 W. Academy St., Madison, NC.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
