Walter Eugene King, 82, of Reidsville, passed away Saturday, January 21, 2017 at Hospice House of Rockingham County.

Born April 20, 1934 in Guilford County, he was a son of the late Walter John King and the late Mattie Jones King. Mr. King was a retired forklift operator with Carolina Container for forty-four years. He faithful supported St. Jude’s Research Hospital.

Mr. King is survived by his wife Mary Ruth Cranford King of the home; daughters, Teressa Forrest and husband Tim of Reidsville, Janice Cureton and husband Russ of Salinas, CA, and Debbie Neel and husband Mike of Elk Grove, CA; seven grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death, by his brothers, Carlie King, Albert King, Fred King, Clarence King and Lloyd King; sisters, Cora Rickard, Thelma Wall, Ola Mae Bussard, Lucille Todd and Aileen Carrick.

Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 AM Tuesday, January 24, 2017 in the Gathering Room of Wright Cremation & Funeral Service. Burial will follow in Floral Garden Park.

The family will receive friends from 10:00 AM until 10:45 AM prior to the service at the funeral home.
