Vickie Louise (Ellington) Hammond

Vickie Louise Ellington Hammond, 74, of High Point, passed away Tuesday, May 20, 2025, at High Point Medical Center.

Born June 23, 1950, in Guilford County, she was a daughter of the late Charles “Bickett” Ellington and the late Lucille Darr Ellington.  Vickie was a floral designer at Ellington’s Florist. She loved her cats and rescuing homeless ones. Vickie would restore their health and wellbeing, then would rehome them to loving homes.  She also loved to cook and being around water, either at the lake or the beach.

She is survived by her son, Dean Ruth (Dana); sisters; Tommie Hughes of Lexington and Shirley Lassister of High Point; grandchildren, Brock Goodyear, Samantha McIntire, Katherine Martin, and Alexandria Ruth; and five great grandchildren.

Memorial services will be conducted at 6:00 PM Tuesday, May 27, 2025, in the High Point Chapel of Wright Funerals-Cremations with Pastor Mark Albert officiating.

The family will visit with friends following the service.
