Dr. Vernon W. McFalls, 85, of High Point, NC, passed away at Novant Kiser Hospice House in Salisbury, NC on September 29, 2018.  Born June 7, 1933, in Gastonia, North Carolina, he was the son of O. W. and Cleo McFalls.  He graduated from Curry High School in Greensboro, and earned his undergraduate degree Phi Beta Kappa from UNC-Chapel Hill.  In 1958, he graduated from the UNC School of Medicine.  He did his internship and a pediatric residency at the University of Arkansas in Little Rock, and also did a pediatric residency at Watts Hospital in Durham, NC.  In 1961, Dr. McFalls joined the pediatric practice of Dr. Marcus Aderholdt.  After Aderholdt’s retirement, he practiced on his own until his retirement in 2013, a total of 52 years.

Dr. McFalls was an avid UNC Tar Heel fan and in his free time enjoyed shooting skeet and flying radio-controlled model airplanes.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Laura Joyce McFalls.  Survivors are his brothers Fred McFalls (Yvonne) of Eden, NC; Sam McFalls (Anne) of Durham, NC; daughter, Susan Eldridge (Rick) of Salisbury; sons George McFalls (Robin) of Colorado Springs, CO; Michael McFalls (Sandy) of Winston-Salem; and Kevin McFalls (Kay) of Forest, VA. He had seven grandchildren, and one great-grandson.

A memorial service will be held in the chapel at Wesley Memorial United Methodist Church in High Point at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 6, 2018.  The family will receive friends in the Asbury Room immediately following the service.
