Mr. Theodore (Ted) Franklin Landis, formally from Adelphi, MD, passed away Friday, December 1, 2017, at his home in High Point, NC.

Ted was born November 3, 1918, in Falling Waters, WV. He was the youngest son of the late Jesse and Jennie Davis Landis. He was preceded in death by siblings, James Landis, Rachel Landis Evans, Mildred Landis Morrill, and Marie Landis Hartman.

Ted is survived by his wife, Marjorie (Margie) Johnson Landis; his son, Theodore (Ted) and Sally Landis; his grandchildren, T.J. Landis (Bridget), Leigh Ellen Dauchert (Stephen); his great granddaughters, Ophelia Landis, Pharis Landis, Sibyl Dauchert; his sister, Lillian Landis Ridenour; his sister-in-law, Violet Johnson; and his nieces, nephews and their children.

Ted graduated from Martinsburg High School and attended George Washington University after World War II, where he studied business and civil engineering.

He was a veteran of the US Army, stationed in Fort Knox, KY and Washington, DC, where he met Margie.

His professional career included Assistant Treasurer at Barber & Ross, Regional Manager at Hojoca Corporation, and a 20-year career with Hewlett Packard where he was the first employee on the East Coast as the Credit Manager.

In his free time, Ted and Margie built 14 houses in the Maryland area. In addition, they were charter members of Ager Road Methodist Church in Hyattsville, MD, where Ted served as Chairman of the Finance Committee and Trustee.

Ted enjoyed collecting antiques, designing and building grandfather clocks and other wood products, growing azaleas that he acquired from the DC Botanical Garden, writing letters to Republican politicians, and writing his personal memoirs.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, December 6, 2017, at 11:00 am at Christ United Methodist Church, High Point, NC. Officiates will be Dr. Matt Farabow and Rev. Jeff Martin, with a reception following the service.

Interment will be Sunday, December 10, 2017, at 2:00 pm at Rosedale Cemetery, Martinsburg, WV. Officiated by the Rev. Larry Cooper.

The family would like to thank Ted’s (Pappap) caregivers: Teresa Hunter, Courtney Steele, Brenda Acevedo, Skylar Davis, LaShonda Lilly, Kayla Williams, and Barbara Shelly. These ladies loved and spoiled Pappap.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Hospice of the Piedmont, 1803 Westchester Drive, High Point, NC 27262 or Christ United Methodist Church, 1300 N. College Drive, High Point, NC 27262.
