Listen to Obituary

Tamara Lynn Atwell Talbot, 67, of High Point, passed away Wednesday, June 3, 2026, at her home after a courageous battle with cancer.

Born August 15, 1958, in Kewanee, IL; she was a daughter to the late Maurice Atwell and the late Doris Jean Adams Atwell.

Tamara loved live music, especially classic country music, and never passed up a chance to sing karaoke. She was talented with her hands and enjoyed crocheting, collecting seashells, reading, and working puzzles. She also enjoyed playing slow-pitch softball, watching NASCAR, and had earned a green belt in Taekwondo. More than anything, Tamara treasured the time she spent with her family, friends, and her many friends from “Easy Street.”

Tamara was a hardworking and dedicated woman who valued education and perseverance. While raising a family and working throughout her life, she earned her Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science from Western Illinois University. Over the years, she held many roles, including working with the Conservation Department, serving as a supervisor at Ace Hardware in Princeton, IL, and as a Henry County truancy officer. She ultimately concluded her career with the Stark County School District Technology Center, where she was known for her knowledge, commitment, and willingness to help others.

Those left to cherish her memory, her beloved husband, Charles Talbot whom she married October 15, 1977; son, Adam Talbot and wife Sally of Bettendorf, IA; daughters, Katie Holbert and husband Todd of Oak Ridge, and Kassie Whitaker of Burlington, NC; grandchildren, Hailee Talbot, Greta Talbot, Caroline Talbot, Kinley Holbert, Leela Holbert, and Gabriel Oberg. She was also survived by her brothers, Calvin Atwell (Kris), Kenneth Atwell (Colleen), Maurice Atwell (Julie), and Timothy Atwell (Glenda); sisters, Christine Hochstatter and Noreen White; and a host of nieces and nephews and her friends from “Easy Street”.
