Shirley Jean Kidd

Shirley Jean Lavender Kidd, 83, of Asheboro, passed away Sunday, May 31, 2026, at Hospice Home of High Point.

Born September 9. 1942, in Guilford County, she was a daughter to the late Charles Lavender and the late Gertrude Saltz Briles. Shirley grew up in High Point and after high school she worked in textile manufacturing all of her life. She loved being with her family and a quick chat with friends. After her health declined, she liked to just stay at home. She continued to enjoy having company at home and visits from friends and all of her family .

She married the love of her life, Terry Gene Kidd on November 13, 1982, in Dillon, South Carolina and they enjoyed their life together until his passing in 2025.

She is survived by sons, Timmy Kidd and his wife, Brenda, Ronnie Holland and wife Sandra, and Dwayne “Doodle” Holland and wife, Marie; daughter, Debbie Herring and husband Stan; brother, Charlie Lavender, Jr.; grandchildren, Megan, Angie, Melissa, Michael, Crystal, BJ, Dusty, Shellie, and Brandi; nineteen great grandchildren; four cats and one dog.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded by a son, Clinton Holland and sister, Ruth Kai.
