Shirley Mabe Dawkins

Shirley Marion Mabe Dawkins, 91, of High Point, passed away Wednesday, August 19, 2026, at Kernersville Medical Center.

Born July 14, 1935, in High Point, she was a daughter of the late Marion Wakefield Mabe and the late Viola Ruth Jane Ridge Mabe.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband, John Raymond Dawkins, Jr., her grandson, Chad Blakely, and her brothers, Allen Ray Mabe, and Ronnie Mabe.

Mrs. Dawkins enjoyed hosting and spending time with her family for holidays and birthdays. Cooking, baking for her family and friends and going out to eat was a favorite time. She loved gardening, sewing/crafting, and ceramics. Playing “SkipBo” was a favorite card game and she played until a week before she passed.

Left to cherish her memory; her sons, Arnold Blakely (Vicki), David Blakely (Tanya Davis), and John Dawkins III (Kristi); daughter, Patricia Scarbrough (Ed); grandchildren, Chris Blakely, Amy Hollar (Ricky), April Ingram (Mark), Michelle Marion (Kenneth), Brandon Blakely (Meghan), Brent Blakely, Shana Coe (Josh), JulieAnne Dawkins, Kylie Rose Dawkins, KatieBeth Dawkins, and Jaxton Dawkins; and brother, Michael “Mickey” Mabe (MaryAnne); great grandchildren, Brittany Smith (Chase), Chelsea Simmons (Johnny), Mackenzie Martin (Colin), Blakely Lambeth (Zane), Lauryn Hollar, Brinley Ingram, Morgan Hollar, Landon Hollar, Meredith Gray, Charlie Blakely, Riley Coe, Samantha Blakely, Remington Coe, and Harper Blakely. great-great grandchildren, Torrie Hill, Christyan-Lee Hill, Leyland Simmons, ErynRose Simmons, Davis Martin, Wilder Lambeth, Ryker Lambeth and Lily Martin.

Funeral Service will be 11:00AM Monday, August 31, 2026, in the High Point chapel of Wright Funerals-Cremations with Pastor Michael Mabe officiating.

Entombment will follow in the Floral Garden Memorial Park mausoleum.

The family will receive friends 10:00-10:45AM prior to the service at the funeral home.
