Sarah Carter Thomason, 89, of High Point, passed away Monday, June 30, 2025, at the Hospice Home of High Point.
She was born February 24, 1936, in Asheville, NC, to the late Foster Piercy Carter and to the late Marguerite Kimberly Carter.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Thomason and her brother, G. Kimberly Carter.
Sarah will be remembered for her bright spirit and the way she brought laughter wherever she went. With a spunky sense of humor that could spark a smile in anyone, she had a natural gift for making people feel welcome and special.
In her younger years, she discovered a love for photography, capturing the beauty of everyday moments through her lens. Later, she found joy spending time with her friends at the Hartley YMCA, where she built many lasting friendships and memories.
Above all, Sarah cherished her family and getting to spend time with them. The special connection she had with her grandson Jonathan was obvious to all that knew her. Whether you were a lifelong friend or someone she just met, she had a way of making you feel seen and valued. Her warmth and kindness will deeply be missed by all who knew her.
Mrs. Thomason is survived by her sons, Kim Johnson and wife Michaela of High Point, and Stewart Johnson of Hendersonville; grandchildren, Joshua Johnson and wife Hailey, Juliana Johnson, Jonathan Johnson, and Haley Johnson; great grandchildren, Crew Johnson and Buck Johnson and her “Sunset Love”, Fred Mabe.
Celebration of Life Service will be 11:00AM Saturday, July 12, 2025, in the Joel W. Farlow Center for Excellence with the Reverend John Vernon and Jerry Farlow officiating.
The family will receive friends following the service.
