Sara “Nanny” Margaret Collins Haire, 89, of Thomasville, NC, passed away September 27, 2025, due to declining health.

She was born on January 15, 1936, in Richmond County, NC. She was the daughter of the late Jesse Collins and the late Mary Gardener Collins.

She is survived by her beloved husband of 74 years, Andrew M. Haire, three sons, Andrew Ralph Haire (Pamela) of Winston Salen, NC, James Albert Haire of Staley, NC, and Darrell K. Haire (Rita) of Thomasville, NC, one daughter, Vickie Haire Burney (Braxton) of Winston Salem, NC. Sara gained a new name “Nanny” as the doting grandmother of nine grandchildren, Andrew “Andy” K. Haire (Whitney) of High Point, NC., Ashleigh Gallagher (Patrick) of Winston Salem, NC, Travis Burney (Lolly) of High Point, NC, Christopher (Chris) Haire (Amie) of Edmond OK, Brooklynn Foster (Wade) of Marion, NC, Patrick “Ted” Haire (Courtney) of Sophia, NC, Andrew (Drew) Haire (Natalie) of High Point, NC, Christina Thompson (Jacob) of Raleigh, NC, and Stephanie Haire (Ryan) of Paris, France, seventeen great grandchildren, two step great grandchildren, one great- great grandchild, two step great-great grandchildren. Sara is also survived by her sister, Magdalene (Maggie) Bailey of Norman, NC, several nieces and nephews, and her former daughters-in-law, Pamela Payne of Winston Salem, NC, Luann Hawks of Lexington, NC, and Tracey Haire of Archdale, NC.

Sara loved, and was much loved in her role as Nanny, traveling to nearly every birthday party, ballgames, and gymnastics to name a few. She also loved gardening her flower bed, traveling with friends, and making her famous chicken and dumplings. She was retired from A.M. Haire Body Co, Inc, of Thomasville, 36 years, which she co-owned and co-founded with Andrew in 1973. She was a long-time member of The Church of God of Prophecy, with over 65 years with the High Point Ward Ave church. Her church was a vital part of her life where she held many positions and was a faithful prayer warrior of her family, church family and many others. Sara’s greatest legacy was her faith in her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. She shared her faith with all, desiring that they too would know Him.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by six brothers, Martin Collins, James Collins, Alton Collins, Roy Collins, Robert Collins Infant Albert Collins, and one sister, Willie Mae Cox, all from Rockingham, NC.

The family would like to express their gratitude to Hospice of the Piedmont and the home caregivers for their dedication, love, support, and care for Sara. They were phenomenal.

Celebration of Life & Legacy services will be conducted at 1:00 P.M. October 3, 2025, at the Church of God of Prophecy, 211 N. Ward Ave, High Point, NC. The family will receive guests one hour prior to service at 12:00 P.M. in the Family Life Center.

Internment service will follow at the Holly Hill Memorial Park Cemetery at 401 W. Holly Hill Road, Thomasville, NC.

Donations may be made to Hospice of the Piedmont, 1801 Westchester Drive, High Point, NC 27262 and/or Church of God of Prophecy, 211 N. Ward Ave, High Point, NC.
