Sam Henry McCrickard, 84, of Archdale, passed away Sunday, January 22, 2017 at Hinkle Hospice House.

Born May 15, 1932 in Rockingham County, he was a son of the late Garnet Childress and the late Hilda McCrickard Childress. Mr. McCrickard was a US Army veteran serving in Korea and was a retired truck driver with fifty-five years of service. He was a member of Colonial Baptist Church.

Mr. McCrickard is survived by his wife of thirty-one years, Patricia Powell McCrickard of the home, son, Sam H. McCrickard, Jr., and wife Sharon of FL; great-grandchildren, Hunter and Kaidynce; and sister-in-law, Von Powell of Archdale.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his granddaughter, Deanna McCrickard.

Services will be conducted at 2:00 PM Wednesday, January 25, 2017 at Colonial Baptist Church. Military honors will follow.

The family will receive friends from 12:30 PM until 1:45 PM prior to the service at the church.
