Sally Platt, 74, of High Point, NC, formerly from Kittanning, PA, passed away on Wednesday, February 22, 2017, from the devastating effects of cancer, following a short stay in Hospice care.

Sally was married to Robert N. (Nick) Platt, for 47 years. They had two sons, together along with two daughters-in-law and six grandchildren. Sally and Nick’s older son, Andrew, is married to Greta Platt. They own a business and reside in Boston, MA, with two of Sally’s grandchildren, Happy (15) and Esther (11).

Sally and Nick’s younger son, Jon, is married to Dr. Kea Parker, and they reside in Portland, OR. They have four of Sally’s grandchildren: Illeana (8), Everett (6), Stanley (3) and Inez (1).

Sally was preceded in death by her mother and father, Edwin M.Todd, Sr. and Mary Maxine (Hoey) Todd. Her siblings, Edwin M. Todd, Jr., of Silverdale, WA, and James W. Todd of Flagstaff, AZ, will greatly miss their sister.

Sally graduated from Kittanning Senior High School in 1960, and was a 1964 graduate of Saint Francis College of Loretto, PA, having received a Medical Technologist degree. Out of college, Sally worked at Central Blood Bank of Pittsburgh, as a Medical Technologist, prior to marrying Nick. The Platts previously resided in Kansas, Missouri, California and Pennsylvania, before settling in North Carolina in 1986.

Sally loved cooking, gardening and bird-watching but, most of all, she enjoyed her family. She was a volunteer at the High Point Library for many years and a good friend to all she knew and knew her. Sally remained life-long friends, too, with several of her Kittanning classmates, known affectionately as “The Chain Gang”.

There will be a funeral mass for Sally at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Kittanning, on Tuesday, February 28, 2017, at 12:00 PM. All who knew Sally and/or her family are invited to participate in the celebration of the mass.

In lieu of flowers, a contribution to the American Cancer Society would be appreciated.
