RV Moss, 85, of High Point passed away Friday, January 27, 2017 at Hospice Home at High Point.

Mr. Moss was born October 15, 1931 in Hendersonville, and was one of six children of the late Walter and Lala Moss. He graduated from Hudson High School in 1950 and joined the United States Army in 1951 and served as a paratrooper in the 508th Airborne Regimental Combat Team. After leaving the Army he enrolled in North Carolina State College in Raleigh and earned a BS in Civil Engineering in May 1959. He served the City of High Point as the Director of Transportation from 1963 until his retirement in 1993. Among many of his awards and recognitions, RV Moss was honored by the NC Section of the Institute of Transportation with the creation of the RV Moss Lifetime Service Award in 1992 and was inducted into the NC Transportation Hall of Fame in 2008. He was an active member of First Baptist Church in High Point since 1963 and has maintained membership in High Point's Kiwanis Club since 1965.

He is survived by his wife of twenty-eight years, Vera Moss; daughters, Deborah Zeringue and Dawn Walker; step-children, Thomas Frettoloso, Mena Parrish and husband Dee, Carmella Willard and husband Ernie; grandchildren, Anthony Hall, Matthew Walker, John Shufelt, Katie Whitesell and husband Chris, Sully Frettoloso and wife McKenna, Anna Parrish, Andrew Willard, and Carley Willard; great-grandchildren, Gracie, Lilly, and Lizzie Whitesell.

RV is preceded in death by his first wife, Elizabeth “Betsy” Moss, who passed away in 1984; his parents and all of his siblings.

Memorial services will be conducted at 2:00 PM Sunday, January 29, 2017 in First Baptist Church with Rev. Dr. Joel Campbell and Rev. Bruce Hartgrove officiating.

The family will receive friends following the service in the church gathering room.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to First Baptist Church N. Main Street, High Point, NC, Hospice of the Piedmont, or Kiwanis of High Point.
