Rue Gene Johnson, 72, of Kernersville, passed away Tuesday, June 26, 2018, at Hospice Home at High Point.

Born August 17, 1945, in Olean, NY, he was the son of the late Leonard C. Johnson and the late Louise Mickelson Johnson. Mr. Johnson was a US Army Reserve veteran and a retired maintenance supervisor.

He is survived by his wife, Shirley Moore Johnson of the home; daughter, Jennifer Peterson and husband Kevin of Kernersville; step-son, John Mallery of Olean, NY; step-daughters, Jo Anne Mallery of Richmond, VA, Shelly Kibby and Annette Auteri both of Ellicottville, NY; sister, Lois Reed of Rochester, NY; grandchildren, Cole and Elizabeth Peterson; and seven step-grandchildren.

A celebration of life visitation will be held from 2:00 PM until 4:00 PM, Saturday, July 7, 2018, at the home of Jennifer and Kevin Peterson, 1329 Forsyth Rd., Kernersville, NC 27284.
