Ronald “Ron” Edward Wright, 62, of High Point, passed away unexpectedly Monday, October 19, 2026, at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center.

Born March 28, 1964, in Lexington, he was a son of Carolyn Swanner Wilson and the late William “Bill” Wright.

Left to cherish his memory; his wife, Carol McNeill Wright; children, Edward Wright of High Point, Emily Ann Wright of Brooklyn, NY, and Katie Mac Wright of Raleigh; siblings, Anna Wright Troutman of High Point, Don Wright and wife Shelley of Lookout Mountain, TN, and Greg Wright of High Point; and numerous loving nieces, nephews and cousins.

A loving husband, father, son, and brother, Ron will be remembered for his intelligence, quiet kindness, and a life that connected his family’s roots in North Carolina with friendships and communities across the world. With an adventurous spirit, Ron earned his pilot license at just 14 years old. He took joy in taking his children in to the sky and sharing that part of the world with them.

Ron graduated from the Rochester Institute of Technology and spent his working life involved in printing at Wright of Thomasville, the family business. His work became an important part of the company’s international story. He established its China operation and spent many years working in the region, with Hong Kong serving as his base. That chapter of his life brought together his professional abilities and his enduring love of rugby. Together, those parts of his story reflect a man whose life reached far beyond any one place, while remaining connected to the people he loved.

Rugby was a thread running through Ron’s life, from his college years to his club days in Hong Kong. It was both a sport he loved and a community to which he belonged. In Hong Kong, he became involved with the Pot Belly Pigs, a charity rugby organization, combining his enthusiasm for the game with opportunities to give back. The friendships and connections he made there remained a meaningful part of his life.

A devoted Jimmy Buffett fan and proud Parrothead, Ron shared with Carol a great love of attending Buffett’s concerts. Their adventures included a secret trip to St. Barts, where they had the chance to see him perform up close—a special memory in their life together.

Ron also supported his local community through his involvement with the Boys and Girls Club. His participation in these organizations reflected a kindness that was often expressed quietly. He was a thoughtful, intelligent man with a reserved, sometimes stoic manner. Those qualities were part of who he was, alongside the love he held for his family.

His family and friends will carry forward their own memories of Ron: his quiet presence, his sharp mind, his kindness, and the experiences they shared with him. Above all else, his children were the greatest joy of his life!

Memorial Service will be 11:00AM Monday, October 26, 2026, in the sanctuary of First Presbyterian Church; 918 North Main Street, High Point; with the Reverend David Smith officiating.
