Ronald Sorensen, 74, of High Point, passed away at Hospice of the Piedmont at High Point.

Born on May 14, 1952, in Spezet, France, he was the son of Francine Louarn Sorensen and the late, Preben Sorensen. Ron, along with his family, moved to the United States when he was three years old settling in Queens, New York, New York. He graduated form Cardoza High School in Queens.

Ron eventually worked in retail management and was a manager for Petland pet stores. During the early 2000’s, Ron moved to the Summerfield area, close to his sister, Linda. During his working years and after his retirement, Ron hobbies included collecting and shopping for unique and interesting items and antiques with his sister, collecting art and gardening. Ron had a green thumb. He could cultivate almost any twig into a full and healthy tree, bush or topiary. He particularly focused on orchids. He was also very proud of his bonsai trees, some of which were over thirty years old. His nurturing spirit was evident, not only with his plants and gardens, but also with friends and family.

Left to remember Ron’s life are his mother, Francine Sorensen, sisters, Linda Lichtenstein and husband Ralph, and Martine Diamond and husband, Joseph; nephews, Eric Diamond and Philip Lichtenstein.

Ron was preceded in death by his father, Preben Sorensen and nephew, Robert Lichtenstein.

No formal services are planned at this time.
