Ronald Charles Gaines

It is with great sorrow that the family of Ronald Charles Gaines, age 75, announces his passing on March 14, 2021.  After an extended period of declining health, he passed at his home in Spartanburg, SC.  Ron had previously resided in Panama City Beach, FL and Trinity, NC. Ron was the son of the late Chuck and Mitzi Gaines of Thomasville, NC.  He is survived by his wife, Jo Anne; four daughters, Kamie (Gene) Lawrence, Angela (David) Tetzlaff, Kristy (RC) Wingerter, and Staci (Brian) Ambuehl; eight grandchildren, Mark (Aleks), Brody, Morgan, Miranda, Abigail, Max, Charlie and Megan James; brother, Roger (Kathy); and sister, Deidra. A native of Toccoa, GA, Ron graduated with degrees from both the University of Georgia and Emory University School of Theology.   In 1974, he served as Executive Director of the Chamber of Commerce in Thomasville, NC.  He was the owner of Davidson Wholesale in Thomasville and later President/Co-Owner of Sponsorship Services Group in Archdale.  Throughout his career, Ron was a motivational speaker and member of The National Speakers Association.  After retiring, he thoroughly enjoyed writing and was the author and publisher of several books. Graveside services for family and friends will be held at Holly Hill Memorial Park Mausoleum in Thomasville on Wednesday, March 17, 2021, at 2:00 pm.
