Robert Fred Hiatt, Jr., 84, of High Point, passed away Wednesday, May 10, 2017, at Hospice Home at High Point.

Born February 25, 1933, in High Point, he was a son of the late Robert Hiatt, Sr. and the late Rosa Lee Hancock Hiatt. Mr. Hiatt was a US Army veteran of the Korean War, was a former High Police Officer. For forty-eight years, he owned and operated Hiatt’s Used Cars.

He is survived by his wife of sixty-three years, Marie Clodfelter Hiatt of the home; daughters, Diana Stobaugh and husband Greg of High Point, Cherri Howlett and husband Wayne of Trinity, and Abby Dixon of Sophia; brother, Billy Hiatt and wife Carrol of High Point; grandchildren, Christy Rich, Dustin Hanna, James Stobaugh, Katie Stobaugh, Jessica Thielmann, and Kyle Dixon; and five great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his son, Freddie Hiatt; grandson, Steven Stainback; and son-in-law, David Dixon.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 PM Monday, May 15, 2017, at Hilliard Memorial Baptist Church. Burial will follow in Floral Garden Park with military honors.

The family will receive friends from 1:00 PM until 1:45 PM prior to the service at the church.
